About an archive

Both my grandparents’ families (my mother’s and father's side), kept and left significant photographic family archives. These archives, whose images consist of pictures taken in Portugal, India and Mozambique, provide the starting point for this work. The research investigates the specific identity formation in my family considering the various influential factors of the Portuguese dictatorship and Diaspora politics between 1940 and 1975.This work is an Interpretation of the images in the archives through performance photography. It is through the element of performance that the re-interpretation and analysis of the archive is made.
